There will be an upcoming vigil at George and Martha Washington's Tomb at Mount Vernon on September 20, 2014. The National Color Guard Commander, Mike Radcliff, would like volunteers to stand watch throughout the day.
The Thomas Stone Chapter Color Guard presented the portrait at an assembly of the students at St. John's School in Hollywood, MD. The kids asked many questions of us about the founding fathers and the Revolutionary War. Mt. Vernon also sends the school, in addition to the portrait, a DVD with teaching plans about George Washington.
While some of us were attending the meeting of the MDSSAR Board of Officers and Managers on the 31st, other Maryland Compatriots were representing the Maryland Society at a ceremony at the historic Congressional Cemetery in Washington, DC.
