John Eager Howard Chapter Meeting

Come join us for a board meeting of the Col. John Eager Howard Chapter, Maryland Society Sons of the American Revolution at historic Todd's Inheritance near Fort Howard, MD - named after our Chapter's namesake – Col. Howard. For over 300 years (1664 - 1970's), the Todd family lived and worked the land, passing the property from father to son for 10 generations.

Gassaway Watkins Grave Memorial

The Memorial to Gassaway Watkins held at his grave site was well attended by numerous hereditary and community groups including Boy Scouts of America, Girls Scouts of America, Honor Guard, Maryland Sons of the American Revolution, War of 1812 Society, Society of the Cincinnati, Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of 1812. There were musicians, bagpipes, musket-firing and the laying of wreaths from numerous heads of various organizations including MDSSAR State President Don Deering and Past President James Engler as well as Color Guard Commander Dave Embrey.

John Eager Howard Grave Marking

On June 5th at 10am, the Col. John Eager Howard Chapter is holding its Annual Memorial at the Old St. Paul’s Cemetery. With all the work the DAR has been doing to clean up the cemetery, we expect to see a greatly improved cemetery since our last memorial there two years ago. We will be there to honor our Chapter Namesake as well as the other Patriots including Signer of the Declaration of Independence Samuel Chase who are buried at this historic cemetery.

Col. John Eager Howard Chapter Meeting

Our JEH VP Dan Fisher was able to secure a location for our April meeting at the historic Old Otterbein United Methodist Church in downtown Baltimore. All members are welcomed to attend the Board meetings. We will have officer and chairmen reports as well as planning discussions for our June St. Paul’s Event.

John Eager Howard Chapter Makes Donations to CAR

The Col. John Eager Howard Chapter presented two checks to the C.A.R. for their 2016 activities today.  At the Nov 7th and Jan. 30th Meetings, the JEH Chapter voted to contribute to the C.A.R.’s objectives. The mission of the National SAR encourages each SAR Chapter to support a local Chapter of the C.A.R. and the JEH Chapter approved a donation of $100 at its November 7th meeting to the Thomas Johnson Society which serves the Baltimore area. Accepting on their behalf, the Thomas Johnson C.A.R.

Col. John E. Howard Chapter Memorial at Grey Rock

The Col. John Eager Howard Chapter held its annual memorial on June 7th with a great turnout. President Jean S. Fugett Jr. opened the ceremony with march in of colors by our MDSSAR Color Guard Troops including David Embrey, Bruce French, David Hoover, Robert Lyons, and Bill Robertson. Their uniforms and the flags were impressive.  VIPs of several organizations attended. Our State President James F. Engler Sr. presented the MDSSAR Wreath during the memorial and spoke of the accomplishments of the chapter. Past President Christos Christou Jr.
