Sign Posting of the Samuel Chase Birthplace

After researching the longstanding question of the birthplace of Samuel Chase, Signer of the Declaration of Independence and Supreme Court Justice, our local chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be posting a sign marking the propert we are convinced is the site of his birth.

The commemoration will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30am. For more information, see the attached flyer.

Sons of Liberty History Channel Miniseries

Sons of Liberty, the three-night, six-hour event, follows a defiant and radical group of young men–Sam Adams, John Adams, Paul Revere, John Hancock and Dr. Joseph Warren–as they band together in secrecy to change the course of history and make America a nation. 

The miniseries will premier on Sunday, January 25th at 9:00pm EST, with the second and third episodes airing the same time Monday, January 26th and Tuesday, January 27th, respectively. This looks like a great program, we hope you will enjoy it.

Washington County Historical Society Welcomes the Return of an 1812 Cavalry Jacket

Please join us and invited dignitaries at a reception for the unveiling and and welcome home of our treasurered War of 1812 relic, the cavalry jacket of Sgt. Jacob Huyett, in time for its 200th anniversary at the Battle of North Point in 1814, on Friday, September 5, 2014 at the Miller House Museum, 135 West Washington Street, Hagerstown, MD from 5 to 7 pm.
