Three Generations Inducted in Maryland State House' s Historic Old Senate Chamber

Three generations of the Owings family were inducted into the Maryland Society Sons of the American Revolution on June 21st in the historic Old Senate Chamber of the Maryland State House in Annapolis. Maryland's Secretary of Veterans Affairs George W. Owings III along with son, George W. Owings IV, and grandsons Jackson and Emerson Owings were inducted by their sponsor, Major General James A. Adkins, USA Retired, Maryland Society 2nd Vice President.

SAR Welcomes New Members

Eight lineal descendants of men who fought in the battles of the American Revolution in support of the cause of American Independence were inducted recently into the membership of the Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.  2015-2016 SAR Chapter President Donald Deering affirms:  “Each Compatriot honors the sacrifice of his forebears with membership in this historical, educational and patriotic organization.”

First Operation REACH Member

Mr. Albert V. Marx, Jr. was inducted into the Gen. William Smallwood Chapter of the Maryland SAR on September 5, 2013. He is the first new member to be inducted via NSSAR’s national Operation REACH program, a joint venture with Ancestry.com. Maryland was one of 3 test states to pilot the program prior to the national rollout. Gen. William Smallwood President, Tim McCabe, was the Maryland Operation REACH chairman and assisted Mr. Marx.
