Carroll County Commissioner's Open Session

Westminster Chapter President Jim Engler is sending out a call for any chapter members who can accompany him to the Carroll County Commissioner's Open Session, Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 10:00am in Room 311 of the County Office Building, 225 North Center Street, Westminster, MD. The Carroll County Commissioners will be presenting us a Proclamation for Constitution Week.

Westminster Chapter Meeting

Please save the date for our summer business meeting on August 4, 2016 at 6:30pm at the Buttersburg Inn in Union Bridge, MD.  Besides a sumptuous dinner of fried chicken we will be treated to some very special guests.  Our speaker will be Sergeant Radcliffe Darby of the Westminster Police Department who is the recipient of our Westminster Chapter Law Enforcement Award.  Our chapter was also the sponsor of the Maryland Society SAR first place winners of the Americanism Youth Essay and Brochure Contests, as well as the second place winner in the Maryland Society SAR Poster Contest.

Westminster Chapter Meeting

Westminster Chapter will hold its annual Fall business meeting and elections at the Large Meeting Room of the Westminster Branch of the Carroll County Public Library (50 E Main St, Westminster, MD 21157).  All chapter members are encouraged to attend.

Westminster ROTC Award Presentation

On 21 April 2015, at a ceremony in the Baker Chapel of William McDaniel College, Westminster, Maryland, Westminster Chapter immediate past president, Dr. Cecil Massie, presented the chapter’s SAR ROTC award to Cadet Kyle Shaffer.  Shaffer is a freshman studying English from New Freedom, Pennsylvania.  The presentation was made during the Green Terror Battalion ARMY ROTC President’s Review.

The Westminster Chapter will be holding its Spring Business Meeting and Luncheon on Saturday, 21 March 2015 at the Cockey's Tavern Building of the Historical Society of Carroll County In Westminster, MD.  See the flyer here.  Seating is limited.

James Crawford Grave Marking

16 May 2009, the Westminster Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution (SAR), honored the sacrifices of Pvt. James Crawford, a patriot of the American Revolution, by marking his grave in St. Luke’s (Winters) Cemetery, New Windsor, Maryland.
