Frederick Town Fife and Drum recruiting members

The Frederick Town Fife and Drum (FTFD) is Recruiting Boys and Girls Ages 11-19. This Revolutionary War based musical ensemble is dedicated to preserving the historic art of fifing and drumming at live performances, parades, historical celebrations, concerts and civic events. Like Colonial Williamsburg’s fifes and drums, Fredrick’s uniformed corps, are drawing and entertaining new and repeat visitors to our county and Frederick City’s bustling downtown area.

Col. John E. Howard Chapter Memorial at Grey Rock

The Col. John Eager Howard Chapter held its annual memorial on June 7th with a great turnout. President Jean S. Fugett Jr. opened the ceremony with march in of colors by our MDSSAR Color Guard Troops including David Embrey, Bruce French, David Hoover, Robert Lyons, and Bill Robertson. Their uniforms and the flags were impressive.  VIPs of several organizations attended. Our State President James F. Engler Sr. presented the MDSSAR Wreath during the memorial and spoke of the accomplishments of the chapter. Past President Christos Christou Jr.

The ceremony begins at 4:15, so members participating should be at the tomb by 3:55.  The wreath party needs to be there no later than 3:30 so we can report to the Tomb Guard Quarters by 3:45.  The wreath party will be the PG, the highest ranking VASSAR officer present, the GW Chapter president, and the highest ranking color guardsman present.
