The weather was beautiful for today’s memorial to Col. Howard and was well attended. This being a great testament to the man who had done much for the City of Baltimore and the nation at large.President Jean S. Fugett Jr. opened the ceremony with a fine presentation of flags by our MDSSAR Color Guard Troops - David Embrey, Bruce French, David Hoover, Robert Lyons, and Bill Robertson. Many thanks to them. Their uniforms are always impressive. Many VIPs attended the event including State President James F.
The ceremony begins at 4:15, so members participating should be at the tomb by 3:55. The wreath party needs to be there no later than 3:30 so we can report to the Tomb Guard Quarters by 3:45. The wreath party will be the PG, the highest ranking VASSAR officer present, the GW Chapter president, and the highest ranking color guardsman present. Please contact Michael Elstonif you have any questions about the event.
The Mary Carroll Caton Chapter of the Maryland DAR has requested the MDSSAR Color Guard present the colors at their 75th Anniversary meeting on October 26th in Catonsville.
