Captain John Smoot Chapter Meeting

Our next Captain John Smoot chapter meeting is confirmed for Saturday, December 8 at 10am at the Snow Hill Branch of the Worcester County Library.

Our guest speaker will be Jefferson Moak, retired archivist and professional genealogist who will give us a very informative talk entitled, “Following the Research Trail”. He will lead us through the steps one can use in researching our genealogy and family histories. Coffee and donuts will be provided.

All members, prospective members and interested friends are invited!

Gen. William Smallwood Chapter Meeting

Dear Compatriots and Friends,

The regular dinner meeting of the General William Smallwood Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at the Rosensteel Knights Of Columbus, 9707 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910. The program for the evening will be our annual presentation of SAR Public Safety Awards and recognition of the Children of the American Revolution.

 

Captain John Smoot Chapter Kedges Straits Tour

Attached is a flyer announcing our Chapter's 2nd boat tour of the site of the Battle of Kedge's Strait (also known as the Battle of the Barges) near Smith Island, Maryland. The battle was one of the last naval engagements between American and British forces in the closing days of the American Revolution. It was an example of two states (Maryland and Virginia) coordinating resources to attack a British flotilla near Smith Island, Maryland.

There will be a general membership meeting of the Capt. John Smoot Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 from 10am to noon at the Poplar Hill Mansion located at 117 Elizabeth Street, Salisbury, MD. Special guest speaker, Sarah Meyers, will be at the meeting to share information about this beautiful Federal-style structure built around 1795.

Smallwood Letters Celebration

Maryland Compatriots, You are invited to join our president Jim Adkins, other state officers and members of our Color guard at the Maryland State House on August 26th between 2-3pm to celebrate the MD 400 and  the acquisition of the Smallwood Letters.
