Compatriots and Friends,
The luncheon will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018, beginning at 11:30 a.m., at Eagle's Nest Country Club, 12801 Stone Hill Road, Phoenix, Maryland 22231.
This year's program will include the awarding of the Maryland 400 Distinguished Service Medal to members of the Maryland National Guard. Donors to the Maryland 400 Honorary Regiment will also receive medals and rank "promotions" based on cumulative gifts through December 31, 2017. A silent auction will once again take place, and donations of items are appreciated.
The keynote speaker will be Park Ranger Susan Finta of the National Park Service, who has worked at various historic sites associated with George Washington, including his Mount Vernon estate. In 2016 she developed “Canal to Constitution Junior Ranger Hikes” to educate children on the significance of the Patowmack Canal and George Washington's vision to unite the people of America following the end of the American Revolution. Her program will discuss a project near and dear to George Washington's heart, and how his desire to see Americans come together in peace, following our country's War for Independence, led from him serving as the first president of the Patowmack Company to the first President of the United States.
Menu choices include chicken piccata, balsamic fig pork tenderloin, or vegetarian wild mushroom ravioli, and all are served with house salad, rolls, and chocolate or vanilla ice cream. Please send in reservations with payment of $45 per person by February 2nd to MDSSAR Treasurer Gary R. Neal, P. O. Box 1, Cockeysville, Maryland 21030-0001.
We look forward to having you with us as we commemorate the birthday of our illustrious Commander-in-Chief and First President!
James M. Perry
3rd Vice President
