Attached please find the Col. John Eager Howard June newsletter for your enjoyment. We are heavily invested in youth awards and getting in front of the community as can be seen from this newsletter. Recently our chapter acquired a high resolution copy of the Baltimore Independent Cadets document from the MD Hist Society which has been donated to the State Society to use in upcoming materials.
The Col. Henry Hollingsworth Chapter MDSSAR on behalf of Chapter President Dr. James R. Dearworth, M.D. invites you to attend their Annual Dedication of Col. Henry Hollingsworth at Elkton Cemetery on May 30, 2018 at 5PM. A meeting will then follow at Elk Landing where food and drinks will also be served. Please see attached notice for further details.
The next quarterly dinner meeting of the General William Smallwood Chapter, Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution, will be held on Thursday, June 14, at the Rosensteel Knights of Columbus Clubhouse, 9707 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910. An informal social time with a cash bar will begin at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner and program will follow at 7:00 p.m.
Compatriot Randolph "Randy" Davis of the Sergeant Lawrence Everhart Chapter, Maryland Society was recently honored for his financial support of the SAR Center for Advancing America's Heritage. The SAR’s Center in Louisville, Kentucky was established to help fill the ever-increasing gap in history and civics education within the nation’s school systems.
The Center will provide expanded space for permanent and traveling exhibits, speakers, workshops, summer camps and school programs, plus improved conditions for its internationally-acclaimed genealogical library.
On Friday April 13th Past Presidents David W. Hoover and C. Louis Raborg Jr. presented a wreath on behalf of the Maryland Society at The Jefferson Memorial commemorating the anniversary of Jefferson's 275th birth. President General Larry Guzy also attended and presented a wreath on behalf of the National Society. It was a beautiful day and the Cherry Blossoms were in full bloom. Many of the Ladies of the National Society DAR and 1812 Society were also in attendance.
