On Saturday, February 1, 2020, the John Hanson Chapter MDSSAR coordinated the effort to pick up the 14,000+ wreaths that were laid on December 14th. The John Hanson Chapter provides the Location Coordinator position to support the effort at the Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery. The Cemetery has 28,000+ graves and gets its wreaths solely through sponsorships. A volunteer staff headed up by our Chapter’s own Compatriot George Satterthwaite with 6 other dedicated folks from the community. It has become a year round effort for this great cause.
On Sunday, January 12, 2020 members from the Harmony Hall Chapter NSDAR joined with members of the John Hanson Chapter MDSSAR to honor a local law enforcement officer and present him with the Law Enforcement Commendation Award. This years award recipient was Lieutenant Hampson, Commander of RID/North/RST of the Prince George’s County Police Department. He was recognized for his leadership, expert investigative skills and sound police tactics that resulted in the apprehension of two violent repeat felons, a loaded handgun, and illegal narcotics, demonstrating a personal commitment to the P

The District of Columbia Society Sons of the American Revolution 2020 Sweethearts and Patriots Gala will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at The Embassy of France in the Georgetown section of Washington, DC.
