There will be a general membership meeting of the Capt. John Smoot Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution on Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018 from 10am to noon at the Poplar Hill Mansion located at 117 Elizabeth Street, Salisbury, MD. Special guest speaker, Sarah Meyers, will be at the meeting to share information about this beautiful Federal-style structure built around 1795.
Maryland Compatriots, You are invited to join our president Jim Adkins, other state officers and members of our Color guard at the Maryland State House on August 26th between 2-3pm to celebrate the MD 400 and the acquisition of the Smallwood Letters.
On Wednesday, July 4th, the Ocean City American Legion, Synepuxent Post #166, and the Captain John Smoot Chapter, MDSSAR, will hold a joint event at the Ocean City American Legion. Please join us on Thursday, September 6, 2018, as we celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the chartering of the General William Smallwood Chapter of the Maryland Society of the Sons of the American Revolution. The dinner meeting will take place at the Rosensteel Knights of Columbus, 9707 Rosensteel Avenue, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910, with an informal social time beginning at 6:30 p.m. and the dinner and program at 7:00 p. m.
The John Hanson Chapter inducted two new members Ray Mann and Kent Kramer. State President Jim Adkins on right and Chapter President Doug Stuart on left. In addition, the chapter presented a Law Enforcement Award to Cpl Angelo Piazza of the Prince George’s County police department for bravery in saving lives from a burning vehicle. With him are chapter President Doug Stuart, the corporal’s mother, and the president of the local chapter of the DAR.
