Join local Marylanders sharing the stories of discovering their ancestry to American Revolutionary Soldiers across the color line, guest panelists include: Karen Sutton (DAR), Jean Fugett Esq. (SAR), Christos Christou (SAR) and Reisha Raney (DAR).
Chapter President Jean S. Fugett Jr. of the Col. John Eager Howard MDSSAR is working with the Star Spangled Banner Flag House and the Reginald F. Lewis Museum to hold a workshop in October that will be of interest to all members. The topic will include genealogical help as well as personal stories of family research from a white and black perspective using DAR and SAR members examples. Please mark your calendars now and we will provide further details as they are finalized. Please spread the word. The program schedule has been tentatively scheduled as follows:
Compatriot Tim McCabe, president of the General William Smallwood Chapter, is teaching a young Wounded Warrior at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda how to search his ancestral roots on Ancestry.com.
The Westminster Chapter SAR will be hosting a Genealogy Workshop at Mount Airy Public Library, Saturday 21 June 2014 from 10 AM to noon. Presented by the Carrollton Manor DAR, the event is open to the public. All chapter registrars, especially those in the western counties, are encouraged to attend this event and ask questions that can help them in the roles in their chapter. The event is free.
